Some people say watching a baseball game on TV is like watching the grass grow, but we know just how exciting October baseball can be. If you’ve never given playoff baseball a try, we’re here to tell you why you should come on down to Carolina Ale House and give it a chance.
Playoff Recap
If you haven’t been keeping track of postseason play, don’t sweat it. We’ve got you covered with all that you need to know before the World Series starts.
The National League will be represented in the World Series by a red hot Washington Nationals team. During the regular season, Washington struggled to gain an edge on the Atlanta Braves to claim the NL East, however, they scraped by to secure a wild card matchup with the Brewers. After beating the Brewers in a win or go home game, they played a best of four series with the first-place Dodgers. A surprise to many, they bested the Dodgers thanks to a grand slam in extra innings. Riding on this high, they managed to gain their first-ever post-season series sweep against the St. Louis Cardinals.
It’s only fitting that the American League is represented by the best team in baseball all year. The Houston Astros have been nothing but dominant this season, and they have proven themselves by making it to the World Series for the 2nd time in 3 years. With an unforgiving bullpen and a dynamic batting lineup, this World Series is going to be one you won’t want to miss.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere at a ballpark during October is a once in a lifetime experience. Participating in unique traditions with 40,000 to 50,000 strangers brings fans together to generate a thriving environment that excites even the viewers at home.
You can’t possibly tell us that 45,000 people simultaneously clapping and singing to “Baby Shark” isn’t fun.
The intense atmosphere of a win or go home matchup makes watching baseball even more entertaining. These teams have an entire season on the line, which means they are going to do whatever it takes to keep on winning.
We’ve already seen some shocking events this postseason, and can only imagine what the World Series has in store for us. From the Cardinals scoring a record-breaking 10 runs in the first inning against Atlanta to the Nationals hitting a grand slam in the 10th inning against LA, this post-season has been one for the books.
Understanding Skill
If you believe baseball is a boring sport, try looking at it from the perspective of how much skill goes into the game. Once you understand the difficulty that these players face, it broadens your horizons and allows you to enjoy the highs of the sport.
Do you want to understand how hard it is to play baseball? Snap your fingers. That’s how long it takes for a batter to decide if he’s going to swing or not. In half a second or less, the entire fate of a team could be determined.
